As you have probably noticed in your search for a program abroad, the program fees charged by various organizations can vary significantly.
The program fees cover volunteers' meals, accommodations, orientation, most in-country transport, and 24/7 guidance and support provided by our Program Coordinators in each host country.
I started Cosmic Volunteers after volunteering for three months as a teacher in rural Nepal in 2000. It was my first trip outside the US, a real eye-opener in so many ways.
There are some great companies who do what we do, but none have our unique combination of affordable program fees and great programs. The cost-of-living is generally low in our program countries, so we feel it's just unfair to charge over 2,000 USD for programs that last only 2-3 weeks.
The Teaching in China program places volunteers in schools in both urban and rural locations. There is a strong need for native speakers of English, so cosmic volunteers are a welcome presence at local schools.
