Skip powered lawn mowers altogether -- human-powered reel mowers are available pretty cheaply. Never needs gas or oil, just an occasional sharpening. Works especially well on zoysia. Get an old heavy one from a yard sale like I did, and you'll have the leg muscles of your dreams.
